Introducing Academic Department
1. Official Name

Aero-Propulsion Department

2. Vision

The Aero-Propulsion Department is dedicated to advancing education and research in key areas such as next-generation aviation systems, wind and renewable energy, transportation efficiency, environmental sustainability, and advanced fluid dynamics. We aim to prepare skilled engineers and researchers who can contribute to the development of innovative propulsion and aerodynamic technologies. With a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration and real-world impact, our mission is to support national progress and promote global well-being.

Our vision is to serve as a nationally and internationally respected hub for education and research in aero-propulsion science and engineering. We are committed to fostering innovation, building strong partnerships with industry and community stakeholders, and preparing future professionals who will contribute to the advancement of sustainable and responsible technologies. We also seek to enhance global academic collaboration and broaden the department’s impact across interdisciplinary and applied fields.

3. About the Department

The Aero-Propulsion Department was established as a foundational unit within the School of Aerospace Engineering. The department focuses on two primary fields: aerodynamics and propulsion. Aerodynamics addresses the study of airflows and their interaction with solid bodies to improve performance, control, and stability of aerial and space vehicles. Propulsion deals with the design, analysis, and optimization of propulsion systems such as jet engines. Our department is distinguished by its cutting-edge laboratories, active research projects, and close collaborations with aerospace industries and academic institutions. Key areas of activity include:

  • Flow simulation and optimization across various flow regimes
  • Propulsion system design for aircraft and spacecraft
  • Simulation and analysis of internal/external flows and associated physical phenomena
  • Smart control of fluid flows and systems
  • Experimental infrastructure development (e.g., wind tunnels and test platforms)
  • Application of AI in design, development, and operation of next-generation aviation systems
  • Aerodynamic and propulsion development of rotary systems and gas turbines
  • Application of aerodynamics in energy, civil, marine, urban, medical, and environmental engineering
  • Aeroacoustics and interdisciplinary aerodynamic analysis
  • Maintenance and operational innovation for propulsion systems
